Meet Oak Factory's Family

Hi, I'm Denisa and I have written bios of all our employees. Why? Because our Oak Factory Family is the one thing that makes us stand out in the world of furniture stores. Time and time again, I have been told that the one reason customers have bought from us is our people!

My husband and I strongly believe in treating people, especially our employees, with respect and love. And we believe life is too short to not enjoy your job. We have a fun time when we are at work! I think as you read about our extended family, you will see why Oak Factory is a place to check out!

Meet Don...

Don has been around a long time...16 plus years!! He started out delivering and hung around long enough to be our right hand man! Don is a great salesperson if you are lucky enough to get him...he is usually putting out any fires going on! It is Don that enables the Cooper family to get out of town and take a break!

Don loves playing Madden...and that is only when it is raining outside. If it is nice he is on his bike...motorcycle that is. Being our "second son," he drives us crazy not wearing a helmet. He is a wonderful dad to a perfect little girl, Shayla and loves catching movies with is wife Tasha.

What makes Oak Factory different from other stores? He replied, "Definitely the staff (does that mean Mike &I?? haha) and the atmosphere...we do have fun here!"

Meet Susie...

Susie has been with Oak Factory since 2010. While she is primarily here to sll, she will basically do "whatever I'm asked!" And at Oak Factory, that could range from running and getting the Oak Factory kids to shopping for birthday cakes, office supplies or balloons!

Susie loves to cook, needlepoint, walk and swim. I can also vouch that she has eaten at every restaurant from here to Louisville. If you need advice on where to dine...from the European Bakery here at Brannon Crossing to the finest dining around!

What makes Oak Factory different from other stores? Susie says, "Since we are not on commission, we do not follow customers around trying to get a sale. It's all about making the customer happy!"

Meet Emily...

Emily started as an intern from a local high school and was so incredible that we hired her on! She does anything we need doing which includes cleaning, organizing, rearranging and decorating furniture and even helps customers when we get slammed!

Emily loves to bowl and recently placed 2nd in the city! She also enjoys music and shopping....typical teen!

What makes Oak Factory different from other stores? Emily says, "It is laid back, casual and really does feel like one big happy family!"

Meet Laura...

Now Laura has been around for awhile. Before her last 2 babies were born (mom of 5), she decorated Oak Factory! Two years ago, with the girls in school, she came back to take care of the office work... like receiving and processing orders. Truthfully, she says she is here to keep Mike in line... and a good job she does at that!

Laura loves spending time with her family, reading, and crafts! She didn't mention cooking but let me tell you, she can cook up some fantastic Puerto Rican food... my favorite is her flan. Oh and did I mention she doesn't receive a paycheck... she just accumulates her time for furniture!

What makes Oak Factory different from other stores? "NO STRESS" states Laura. Now that is too cool.

Meet Dan...

Dan started working as our "Main Man" in deliveries since 2007. He loves being on the truck traveling to different areas (he has delivered as far as West Virginia and Indiana borders and into Cincinnati and Louisville.) He loves interacting with you, the customer.

Dan loves to read science fiction and autobiographies. Loves Nascar, walking, hiking, and of course Kentucky basketball. And he loves his Bible... King James version! He enjoys visits with his grand kids.

What makes Oak Factory different from other stores? Dan says, "I like the integrity of the store and that if I need prayer, I can ask for it. I know that when I need someone, my Oak Factory family and friends are there for me."

Meet Nathan...

Nate was hired at Oak Factory in February of '09. Nate helps keep our warehouse upstairs organized (an ongoing challenge!) and he goes out on deliveries to our customers' homes.

Nate loves to read, travel, jog, and sing. Recently he went to the Philippines for 3 weeks on a mission trip where he did a lot of praying and preaching. He loves people and is always doing something fun.

What makes Oak Factory different from other stores? Nate replied, "It is a small family owned company and their emphasis is on faith!"

Meet Mike...

Mike is the "main man!" or so we let him think so!! Our beloved owner opened Oak Factory and can be found doing anything and everything...even when we don't want the help! If you hear singing, it is usually Mike.

Mike loves to read(he is a walking encyclopedia), golf, travel and loves to smoke...meat, that is. He has a huge smoker here and has smoked chickens, turkeys and ribs for many events. He loves the Bible and teaches apologetics (how to defend your faith) to 5th graders at Church of the Savior.

What makes Oak Factory different from other stores? "It has to be me!! I love to talk about anything!

Meet Denisa...

My job is so fun... I take care of the store moves (that means on one day a week, the guys and I are moving things around!) I am a stickler for making sure it is decorated and portrays a room you might like to have in your home. I handle all the advertising, which means I write those TV ads you see! I also do all the scheduling for our people and your deliveries. I love buying the furniture we bring in. And I love our people... who have become family.

I love to travel with my family and my girlfriends! Reading is a must and I am a bargain shopper who will always let you know that I am wearing a "skirt that retailed for $58 but I got it for $3.00!!" My favorite room in my house is my screen porch where you will find me at 5:30 every morning with my coffee and the Lord!

What makes Oak Factory different from other stores? I am told that this is just a fun place to be. You can shop at your leisure and we are there to answer any questions. We are very non-pressuring... our quality and low prices speak for themselves.

Meet Gene...

Gene has been shooting commercials here for over 10 years. Now he not only does commercials, he sells furniture and builds chairs.

Gene is our resident baker...He spent time with Buddy (Cake Boss) and loves baking. From cannollis to pies (of course with homemade crust) to cakes (he has even made his own fondant), nothing is too hard for Gene to bake. He also loves to experiment with soups. When he is not baking, he is singing or acting. He loves to perform.

What makes Oak Factory different from other stores? Gene said, "It revolves around God."

Meet Samantha...

Samantha started being in our commercials when she was 3 years old. She would hardly say a word! She is now a pro. When she isn't shooting commercials, you will find her filing for her dad, dusting, vacuuming or decorating a room in the store (which she has a great knack for).

Samantha loves to be outside. She loves basketball, soccer, singing, playing with her dogs and going to youth group with all her friends.

What makes Oak Factory different from other stores? "My parents own it."

Meet Dwight Clay...

Dwight started working in the warehouse in august 2011 and enjoyed our warehouse team. But he soon got a full time job and we didn't want him to leave. So he works part time on the weekends on the sales floor.

Dwight loves jogging, golf and teaching kids at Church of the Savior. He has 2 beautiful daughters, Anna and Rachael. He and his wife, Margaret, live in Lexington with their kids.

What makes Oak Factory different? Dwight says it is the great staff..."Everyone likes working at Oak Factory!" And Dwight says he enjoys meeting people who come from all around the Bluegrass.
